Personal Image.3

For my classic piece of literature, I chose The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Not only was it on our class list of approved "classic" novels, but it was recommended to me by my older brother who told me it changed his life. I still have no idea what it's about because I haven't started reading, but I saw on trusty ol' wikipedia that it is an international bestseller, has been translated into 67 languages, sold more than 65 million copies in 56 languages, is one of the best-selling books in history, and set the Guinness World Record for most translated book by a living author. Wikipedia makes it sound pretty credible, even if only half the information is accurate. It has literary recognition and definitely has had a large impact on audiences (translated so many times!). As for the other conventions of "classic" literature, I think I'll be better able to decide after I've read it. And I know I'm not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but the colors did complement my autumn scenery for the picture quite nicely... :)
